This 1943 Martin D-28 comes from the highly-desirable wartime production era, pairing an Adirondack spruce top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides for the dry, open voice these instruments are known for. Decades of careful use are evident across the top and back, giving this guitar the honest appearance of an instrument that has spent its life being played. It has received a refret, previous neck reset, replacement nut, replacement bridge and saddle, a bridge plate glue repair, a light repaired B-string crack, a shim beneath the fingerboard extension, and replica bridge pins, all to help keep it in service. Despite the work performed over the years, it retains the character and response that continue to make wartime D-28s a benchmark among vintage flattops, offering a seasoned voice with scalloped bracing and the depth and clarity that have made these guitars enduring favorites. As this guitar stands, it could potentially benefit from another neck reset and compression refret, but it is still comfortably playable in its current condition with a bit higher action. Includes modern hard shell case.
