This rare 1934 Martin 000-18 with a seldom found "shadetop" finish and OM scale length showcases the enduring elegance of Martin's pre-war craftsmanship. It has a well-aged and resonant tight-grained Adirondack spruce top, along with the mahogany back and sides, delivering a balanced, articulate sound. The 000 body size strikes a perfect balance between comfort and projection, making it ideal for both fingerstyle and strumming. This guitar falls within the earliest years of the 14-fret 000 model, featuring forward-shifted X-bracing, distinct from the later rear-shifted bracing. Over the years this guitar has undergone some needed repair work to ensure its playability and longevity. Notable details include a clean neck reset, which restores proper neck angle for optimal action and intonation. Several top cracks were stabilized through a popsicle brace; a brace which would be standardized in all models for structural integrity in later years. Other repairs are listed under "Modifications/Repairs." These modifications align with the goal of maintaining the instrument's vintage charm while providing a functional and enjoyable playing experience. It includes its original hardshell case.
