This 1931 Gibson L-1 is a particularly well-preserved example of the short-lived 12-fret, 14 3/4" body design produced from 1929 through 1931. It features a spruce top with Gibson’s Cremona Brown sunburst, mahogany back and sides, and the small script “The Gibson” headstock logo that was discontinued the following year. The lightly built construction and X-braced top give this L-1 a remarkably responsive voice, while the comfortable shallow C-shaped mahogany neck makes it a natural fit for fingerpicking and other playing styles. This example retains its original Waverly tuners, bridge plate, and thin wire frets, with a neatly executed neck reset and other subtle maintenance work. Light finish checking, small scrapes, dings, and some top wear are present, but the guitar remains in excellent overall condition. Includes 70s black hardshell case.
