VG++ (structurally strong but shows playing wear), re-topped at the Martin factory in the 1950s (28 style), has had "California neck reset", replacement bridge and fingerboard (original hexagonal inlays re-used), originally purchased by Doyle Dykes' uncle Bascom Doyle Smith, AKA "Smitty Smith", who bequeathed it to Doyle in 1977. In 1988 Doyle gave the guitar to Roy Clark who used it extensively until his passing in 2018 at which time it was returned to Doyle. This guitar comes with a letter from Doyle explaining its history as well as numerous photographs of the guitar throughout its journey.
