An early "pre production" Charvel guitar, this extremely rare example is part of a limited run of guitars finished in the Eddie Van Halen inspired striped pattern. Eddie famously posed with a Black and Yellow Charvel from this series on the back of the second Van Halen record, forever associating himself with this model. Ultimately, Eddie came to disprove of Charvel marketing his trademarked design, prompting a cease and desist order in 1979 that prevented any more from being made at the time. This example has a mighty mite bridge in place of the original Wilkinson, as well as a late 70s Super Distortion pickup, brass hardware, and the original hardshell case. These models pre date even Charvel's serialization, so the exact number is unknown, though original striped Charvels from this era almost never appear for sale. A true collector's item for any Van Halen fan and an important benchmark in the history of American guitar builders.
